Will address activists and honor Congressman John Olver
(SPRINGFIELD) Congressman Richard E. Neal will be the keynote speaker as the Southampton Democratic Town Committee hosts a fundraiser this Sunday from 3-5 p.m. at Opa Opa Steakhouse and Brewery, 168 College Highway, in Southampton. The fundraiser will benefit the Southampton Democratic Town Committee in an effort to enhance its presence in the community.
“My first job in politics was Chairman of the Springfield Democratic City Committee, so I understand how important local Democratic committees are to candidates’ success at all levels,” said Neal. “When the Southampton Democratic Town Committee asked me to speak at this event in order to help raise money for expenses while the Committee becomes more active, I was happy to oblige.” "The Southampton Democratic Town Committee is dedicating its efforts to
the election of our slate of 2012 candidates,” said Jean Pierre Crevier, Chair of the Southampton Democratic Town Committee.
The Southampton Democratic Town Committee has unanimously endorsed Neal, Elizabeth Warren, and President Barack Obama.
“I am honored to receive the endorsement of the Southampton Democratic Town Committee,” said Neal.
While chairman of the Springfield Democratic City Committee, Neal built a vast organization that worked up and down the ticket for Democratic candidates.
“What is important to remember is a thriving Democratic Committee is just as active in non-election years as election years,” said Neal. “As Democrats, we know when we tell our story we score resounding victories locally, statewide, and nationally. I commend the Southampton Democratic Town Committee for taking this crucial first step toward becoming a grassroots force.”
The Southampton Democratic Town Committee is using Sunday’s fundraiser to expand its network.
“Our June 10th "Meet Your Candidates" event represents the kick-off of those efforts,” said Crevier. “We are truly honored to have Congressman Neal present to energize all of us throughout Western MA to work toward this goal.”
Neal is scheduled to speak around 4 p.m. and he will outline the necessary steps for Democratic victory in November.
