Neal to Address Business Leaders Roundtable
(SPRINGFIELD) Congressman Richard E. Neal will speak tomorrow in Bedford, New Hampshire at the request of President Barack Obama's campaign. Neal is scheduled to discuss the dangers of Romney-Ryan tax proposals with New Hampshire business leaders at 7 p.m. at a supporter’s home - 18 Spring Hill Road in Bedford, New Hampshire.
“The Romney-Ryan tax agenda is a roadmap without the streets,” said Neal. “They tell us the final destination but what they don’t tell us is how to get there. Because I sit on the Ways and Means Committee with Paul and I know former Massachusetts Governor Romney, I can tell you their plan: rigid, ideological support for supply-side economics. This means furthering the myth that tax cuts pay for themselves. As we saw under George W. Bush, this misguided theory led to the most anemic economic growth in our history.”
By choosing Ryan for the Republican ticket, Romney is embracing the Ryan Budget which consists of draconian cuts to programs created for the working man and working woman. This proposal privatizes Social Security, slashes Medicare to a voucher system, rations health care to individual states, continues tax breaks to the wealthiest, and increases defense spending while sacrificing investment in America’s infrastructure.
A senior member of the Ways & Means Committee- and ranking member of the Select Revenue Measures Subcommittee- Neal specializes in taxes, trade, pensions, Medicare, and Social Security. After serving together for 14 years, Neal has debated Ryan on topics from the Bush Tax Cuts to Alternative Minimum Tax.
Neal will contrast the Romney-Ryan plan by promoting President Obama’s reasoned approach of middle-class tax cuts to spur economic growth.
