Congressman Richard Neal (D-MA). Congressman Bill Keating (D-MA) and Former New York Democratic Party Chairman Jay Jacobs to Hold Press Conference Call Reacting to Mitt Romney’s Continued Evasiveness Over His Tax Returns and Medicare Distortions

One Day After Being Rankled By Reporter’s Questions, Romney Set to Attend Fundraisers In Nantucket and the Hamptons

Washington, DC— Congressman Bill Keating (D-MA), Congressman Richard Neal (D-MA) and Former New York Democratic Party Chairman Jay Jacobs will hold a press conference call TODAY, August 17th at 12:30pm EDT to react to Mitt Romney’s continued evasiveness over his tax returns and Medicare distortions, one day after a “rankled” Romney tried to explain his plan to end Medicare as we know it.

Romney is set to attend fundraisers today and over the weekend in Nantucket and the Hamptons. With his selection of Congressman Paul Ryan as his Vice Presidential running mate, Mitt Romney has doubled down on his plan to weaken America’s seniors’ Medicare to help pay for his $5 trillion in tax cuts for the wealthiest Americans. A Romney-Ryan administration would turn Medicare into a voucher program, pushing seniors who rely on Medicare into the private market and raising their costs by $6,350 a year.

The policies Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan have embraced would only further erode middle-class security, hiking taxes on the middle class to pay for massive tax cuts for wealthy Americans like Mitt Romney. Independent economists found that Romney’s plan would raise taxes on the average middle-class family with children by $2,000 in order to give hundreds of thousands of dollars in tax breaks to millionaires and billionaires.

Tax hikes for the middle class while Mitt Romney refuses to level with the American people and release his own tax returns?

That’s Romney Economics: It Didn’t Work Then, Won’t Work Now.
